Colapso en el centro de exámenes de la DGT en Móstoles
Summer is approaching, and once again, Madrid driving schools are facing the same issue, the collapse of the driving test center of the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) in Móstoles.
This center conducts nearly 80% of the driving license exams in the Community of Madrid, and as reported by the Association of Driving School Entrepreneurs, it is completely overwhelmed.
Currently, almost 60,000 students are waiting for an appointment to take the exam and obtain their driving permit.
DGT is concerned about the high number of motorcycle accident fatalities
The problem will worsen in just a month, as the Móstoles center will close its doors for the entire month of August, further increasing the waiting list.
Driving schools blame the DGT for not hiring enough examiners to meet the high demand of students, a request they have been making for years.
The issue affects both students, who are forced to wait between two to three months after passing their theory exam to secure a spot for the practical exam, incurring additional costs as they continue taking lessons; and driving schools, unable to graduate their students to take on new ones.
The situation is even more challenging for individuals who need the license to work, such as students aiming to take the exam for driving heavy vehicles.
