The Brotherhoods of Móstoles are finalizing the preparations for the Holy Week in Móstoles, declared a Regional Tourist Interest for its procession of the Encounter and officially starting this Saturday with the proclamation, which this year is given by the chaplain of the Hospital Rey Juan Carlos.
This was highlighted by the mayor, Manuel Bautista, after meeting with the different Brotherhoods of Móstoles to learn about the program that will be carried out, in collaboration with the Móstoles City Council, in the municipality during Holy Week, which will remain «faithful to its traditions.»
Processions, concerts, and several novelties in the Holy Week of Aranjuez
The liturgical events will begin this same Saturday, April 5th, with the Holy Week Proclamation, which will take place at 8:00 pm at the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, led by the chaplain of the Hospital Rey Juan Carlos in Móstoles, Pablo Fernández, as indicated by the City Council in a statement.
However, the first processions will not take place until April 11th, where children will be the protagonists in the children’s procession of Friday of Sorrows, at 8:00 pm.
Sunday, April 13th
On Sunday, April 13th, Palm Sunday, the traditional Blessing of palms will take place, and the image of La Borriquilla will be paraded at 10:00 am from the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints.
After walking through the main nearby streets, the Holy Mass will be officiated at 12:00 pm in Pradillo Square, and after the Eucharist, the image will return to the hermitage.
Monday, April 14th
On Monday, April 14th, Holy Monday, the image of the Crucified will be carried on shoulders from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, at 8:00 pm, to the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints, while several passages of the announcement of the Passion and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ are read.
Tuesday, April 15th
On Tuesday, April 15th, the children’s procession of Jesus the Nazarene will be celebrated.
Wednesday, April 16th
On Wednesday, April 16th, the emotional Silent Procession will take place at 9:00 pm, with the Christ of Medinaceli starting from the Parish of Santa María de la Alegría and going through several streets of the city.
Thursday, April 17th
One of the highlights will be Holy Thursday, April 17th, with the Night Procession starting at 10:00 pm, with the images of Jesus the Nazarene and Our Lady of Solitude leaving from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, which will remain open all night for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
Friday, April 18th
On Friday, April 18th, Good Friday, the Blessed Christ Lying in Victory will be paraded in the Holy Burial procession at 6:30 pm from the Parish of Santa María de la Alegría, accompanied by the musical support of La Estrella Band.
Additionally, the traditional Major Procession of Good Friday will take place at 8:30 pm from the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints, with the images of the Crucified, the Piety, the Lying Christ, and Our Lady of Solitude, escorted by the Infantry Regiment Inmemorial del Rey no 1, a Squadron of Gastadores from the Getafe air base.
Saturday, April 19th
On Holy Saturday, April 19th, the Lying Christ can be revered from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption. There, the Tenebrae Service will be held at 10:00 am and at night, at 10:00 pm, the Solemn Easter Vigil will take place.
Finally, on Sunday, April 20th, Resurrection Sunday will see the iconic Encounter Procession, declared a Regional Tourist Interest event, which closes the Holy Week in Móstoles with Resurrection Sunday.
The processional parades, with the images of the Risen Christ and Our Lady of Solitude, will start at 10:15 am.
Hoteliers anticipate a very positive Holy Week
Each of the images will depart from their respective temples, the Risen Christ from the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints, and the Solitude from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption, starting their own route until they meet at 11:00 am at Cuatro Caminos Square.
After three descents of the two images, the Virgin of Solitude sheds her mourning cloak to shine with the white cloak that announces the resurrection of Christ.
Next, the Solemn Easter Mass will be officiated at Pradillo Square at 12:00 pm. Subsequently, the images will return to their temples.
