Móstoles celebra con fervor la Procesión del Encuentro

The processions this Easter Sunday continue in our region. They are the so-called Encounter processions, between the statues of the Virgin and her Resurrected son. In Móstoles, it is declared a regional tourist attraction. Two processions that depart from different points and converge in this encounter. It is the highlight of Holy Week in this municipality.

The Deputy Minister of Presidency and Local Administration, José Antonio Sánchez, accompanied by the mayor of the city, Manuel Bautista, participated this Sunday in the Encounter Procession, a Regional Tourist Attraction since 2010.

Emotional Moment

Sánchez witnessed the most emotional moment of this liturgical act, the representation of the three descents of the images of the Virgin of Solitude and the Resurrected Christ. Later, he attended the mass celebrated at the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints.

The Deputy Minister has stated that supporting festivals and traditions is «defending our cultural identity, our roots, and the legacy of future generations.»

This is how the solemn Stations of the Cross of the Crucified Christ in Móstoles unfolded

The processional marches, with the images of the Resurrected Christ and Our Lady of Solitude, have departed from their respective temples — the Resurrected from the Hermitage of Our Lady of the Saints and the Solitude from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption — until they met in the Plaza de Cuatro Caminos.

Finally, the Solemn Easter Mass was officiated in the Plaza del Pradillo before the images embarked on the journey back to their temples.
