Móstoles to address urgent actions at Conservatorio after 20 years without renovations.

The Móstoles City Council is going to address a series of priority and urgent actions at the Rodolfo Halffter Professional Conservatory to improve its climate control and accessibility after nearly 20 years without any renovations in these facilities.

This was announced by the mayor, Manuel Bautista, who explained that among the actions included in the Strategic Plan of Actions in educational centers for the year 2025, for the first time includes actions in spaces such as the UNED center or the aforementioned Rodolfo Halffter Conservatory.

«Maintenance actions had not been undertaken for years. There were no actions at the UNED since 2008 and at the Conservatory since 2005,» insisted the mayor of Móstoles, who pointed out that the first goal is to address the most urgent actions at Rodolfo Halffter.

Municipal sources have indicated to Efe that this year they will replace windows on the second and fourth floors of the Conservatory with others featuring thermal break and double glazing.

These actions, mainly aimed at improving the climate control of the educational center, will be complemented by the opening of service windows in the center’s secretariat, as well as some finishing touches of masonry and painting.

Furthermore, the Councilor for Urbanism, Housing, Heritage, and City Maintenance, Sergio Soler, has also revealed to Efe that the project to install an elevator at the Conservatory, improving the accessibility of the educational center located in the Cuartel Huerta park, is already underway.

Elevator renovations have been carried out in recent years in several municipal buildings. In this case, the tender has already been issued to provide a new elevator to the Conservatory, as well as to District 5 Board, in Parque Coimbra.

«The Rodolfo Halffter was a great forgotten along with nursery schools, children’s homes, and others. It is especially exciting for us because we have a top-level Conservatory that did not have top-level facilities,» added the mayor.

The Rodolfo Halffter Conservatory offers elementary and professional education in 15 instrumental specialties, such as clarinet, double bass, bassoon, flute, guitar, oboe, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, horn, trumpet, violin, viola, and cello.

«Artistic music education promotes a solid formation in the technique of different instruments or voice, as well as providing historical, aesthetic, and expressive knowledge of this art whose goal is professional practice,» they add.

To access a conservatory, it is essential to take and pass the corresponding entrance exam. Elementary degrees last four years, while professional degrees have a duration of six.
