Móstoles ofrecerá pagar el peaje de la R-5 a sus vecinos si Transportes se niega

The Mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has once again demanded that the Ministry of Transport assume the gratuity of the R-5 for the residents of the town to facilitate their mobility during the underground works on the A-5 and, in case of refusal, he urges to sign an agreement with the City Council for the local administration to take charge of the payment.

Specifically, in a letter sent this Monday to the Minister of the sector, Óscar Puente, the mayor reiterates the need for the gratuity of the R-5 to be immediately enabled for the mostoleños during the entire period of the improvement works on the A-5.

In the event of opposition to this measure, as indicated in the letter, there is a call to sign an agreement between the Ministry and the City Council whereby the Council would take on the cost of using the R-5 by mostoleños, while the ministerial department would be the entity validating the number of town residents using this route between Móstoles and the capital, as well as the number of trips.

All this, as Bautista emphasizes, with the aim of «facilitating» the mobility in and out of the municipality, seeking to minimize the traffic problems currently experienced by mostoleños due to the A-5 underground works.

«I already requested Mr. Puente the gratuity of the R-5 in October 2024 given the foreseeable consequences of the A-5 works. He has not yet seen fit to reply and it is the mostoleños who pay for this snub,» the mayor lamented.

In this sense, the mayor emphasizes that his «sole objective» is to improve the mobility of the mostoleños, «without biases». I hope Mr. Puente has a broad perspective and seeks only the good of the citizens without putting partisan interests first,» the mayor states in the letter.
