Las Fiestas del 2 de Mayo en Móstoles contarán con la presencia de cinco figuras de Meninas «Goyescas», de gran tamaño, que se ubicarán en distintos puntos del municipio. Esta iniciativa forma parte de la programación especial preparada por el Ayuntamiento para estas celebraciones. Los ciudadanos tendrán la oportunidad de tomarse fotos con estas figuras y subirlas a Instagram. Además, se premiará la imagen con más «likes» con un obsequio especial. Las Meninas, inspiradas en las emblemáticas Goyescas, darán un toque artístico a las calles de Móstoles durante estos días festivos. Estas figuras únicas se instalarán en lugares como la Plaza del Pradillo, Avenida de la Constitución, Plaza de España, Avenida de Portugal esquina con calle Goya y Parque Finca Liana. El Alcalde de Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, ha destacado la calidad de estas obras y la importancia de llevar el arte a espacios públicos. Las figuras estarán en exhibición hasta el 30 de mayo y forman parte del proyecto «Meninas Madrid Gallery», creado por el artista Antonio Azzato. Este proyecto rinde homenaje a las famosas Meninas de Diego Velázquez y ha sido una iniciativa exitosa en la capital española. Los visitantes podrán disfrutar de estas reinterpretaciones artísticas y participar en la dinámica de fotografía en redes sociales para ganar premios.
The Móstoles City Council is going to install five large-sized «Goyescas» Meninas figures that can be found in different locations throughout the municipality, as a new addition to the May 2nd festivities program. Citizens who wish to can take photos with them, upload them to Instagram, and receive a prize for the one with the most «likes».
The City Council of Móstoles, through the Department of Education and Festivities, has prepared a carefully curated program for the May 2nd festivities, featuring the installation of five unique Meninas figures inspired by the iconic Goyescas, in various locations in the municipality, decorating the streets of Móstoles with symbols from that era.
The large-sized figures will be integrated into the city, coexisting with all citizens and visitors, bringing art to the streets of Móstoles. The Meninas will be installed outdoors in Plaza del Pradillo, Avenida de la Constitución (CA2M area), Plaza de España, Avenida de Portugal corner with Goya Street, and in Parque Finca Liana (opposite the Bosque Theater).
The first one has been installed in Plaza de España. The rest have been subsequently installed, transforming the urban landscape of the municipality for a few days until May 30th.
Mayor of Móstoles, Manuel Bautista, has personally checked the quality of these artistic works. Residents and visitors who wish to can take photos with them, upload the photo to social media, specifically Instagram, with the hashtag #meninasmostoles, follow the Móstoles City Council account, and receive a mini-Menina as a prize for the photo with the most «likes».
This exhibition is part of the «Meninas Madrid Gallery» project, created by artist Antonio Azzato, paying homage to the protagonists of Diego Velázquez’s painting from 1656. This masterpiece features the Infanta Margarita of Austria posing with her ladies-in-waiting or «meninas» and other characters of interest, on display at the Prado Museum in Madrid.
«Las Meninas» is one of the most reinterpreted works in Art History, alongside the «Mona Lisa». This inspired Azzato, the artist behind the project, to develop a personalized reinterpretation and decoration of Meninas figures.
Meninas Madrid Gallery started in 2018, has had 7 editions in Madrid, and has created over 350 Meninas, with the participation of more than 250 artists and celebrities leaving their unique mark on each piece.
