The return of the Entierro de la sardina, after more than a decade without being celebrated, will be the main novelty of the programming of Carnival 2025 in Móstoles, which will continue to be faithful to its traditions such as the contest of Carnival Groups, the great Carnival Parade, and various musical performances.

The programming will kick off on Saturday, February 22nd with the Children’s Contest of Carnival Groups and the XXVI Contest of Carnival Groups, and will conclude on March 5th with the aforementioned Burial of the Sardine Parade, as indicated by the City Council in a statement.

Children under 16 years old will be the first to immerse themselves in the carnival world as members of the groups participating in the Children’s Contest of Carnival Groups, which will take place at the Villa de Móstoles Cultural Center on Saturday, February 22nd, starting at 10:00 am.

The Mago Murphy will be in charge of entertaining and presenting the contest, where the members of the participating groups will perform fun chirigotas following in the footsteps of their elders.

Following that, starting at 4:00 pm, the XXVI edition of the Carnival Groups Contest of Móstoles will begin, taking place at the Villa de Móstoles Cultural Center, presented by Pepe El Caja, a chirigotero who hosts the Official Contest of Carnival Groups of Cádiz (COAC).

Additionally, the Móstoles City Council will set up a tent in Plaza de la Cultura with a large screen so that neighbors who have not obtained tickets can follow the contest.

Móstoles will host the GameGenX 2025 Video Game Fair

On Sunday, February 23rd, at 12:00 pm, the Carnival Groups will take to the streets to share their joy and performances with all the people of Móstoles in various locations in the municipality such as Plaza de España.

On Friday, February 28th, the Móstoles City Council has scheduled the children’s concert ‘Tour Babyradio’ for the little ones, starting at 6:00 pm in Plaza del Pradillo, featuring Raúl Charlo, one of the top artists in the children’s music scene at the moment.

The Grand Carnival Parade will take place on Saturday, March 1st, at 6:00 pm, where all participating groups dressed in their best and most original costumes will parade through the streets of Móstoles, filling them with joy and offering lots of fun.

The starting point for the parade will be on Desarrollo Street and the route will pass through Desarrollo Street, Alfonso XII Street, Dos de Mayo Avenue, and will end at Plaza del Pradillo.

On the same Saturday, at 7:00 pm, the musical family show ‘Cocoloco Family Carnival Party’ returns to Plaza del Pradillo in Móstoles, following the success of last year.

This event will pause to listen to the Carnival Proclamation 2025, at 8:00 pm, at the same Plaza del Pradillo, which this year will be given by the charismatic sports journalist from Móstoles, Domingo López Menchero, director of the newspaper ‘Domingolm’.

The carnival programming will continue on Sunday, March 2nd with the Children’s Carnival Party ‘Confeti Fest’ and on Tuesday, March 4th with The Special Carnival Seniors Dance, at the usual Copacabana Salons, at 5:00 pm, where a unique carnival party atmosphere will be recreated.

And this year, after more than a decade without being celebrated, the Móstoles City Council is bringing back the Burial of the Sardine Parade, which will take place on Wednesday, March 5th, at 6:00 pm.

The route will start at Plaza del Pradillo, continue through Dos de Mayo Avenue, El Cristo Street, Antonio Hernández Street, Constitution Avenue, Jiménez de Asúa Passageway, and end at Cuartel Huerta Park, where the performance, proclamation, and burning of the sardines will take place.
