The Municipality of Móstoles joins World Multiple Sclerosis Day, commemorated on May 30th, to raise awareness about the impact of this chronic disease on those who suffer from it and their families.
The Móstoles Multiple Sclerosis Association (AMDEM) has organized a joint event at 12:00 pm between the Municipality of Móstoles and the Municipality of Alcorcón, involving the reading of a manifesto and the release of biodegradable balloons in front of the Town Halls of both municipalities simultaneously.
Mayor Manuel Bautista of Móstoles attended this event in Plaza de España, along with other members of the municipal corporation, to show support and raise awareness about this disease.
This year’s awareness campaign slogan is: «My Multiple Sclerosis is real, I’m not making it up,» highlighting the need to understand and recognize the numerous symptoms that this disease can cause, up to 14 at the same time, many of which are invisible and make it poorly understood by society.
The manifesto-decalogue in favor of people with multiple sclerosis emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis, fair public funding, increased research for new treatments leading to a definitive cure, access to personalized, free, and continuous rehabilitative treatment, and equity in access to pharmacological treatment.
Additionally, there is a call for more commitment from employers in adapting work positions, ensuring universal accessibility, and raising awareness among society about people with multiple sclerosis and their families.
