The emotional tribute was attended by the relatives of the victims of the attacks that occurred on March 11, 2004, accompanied by members of the municipal Corporation, regional authorities, and representatives of the security forces.
The City Council of Móstoles carried out the tribute ceremony yesterday afternoon in commemoration of the European Day in memory of victims of terrorism at the monolith in the Linear Park of Arroyo del Soto.
During the moving ceremony, a laurel wreath and a bouquet of flowers were placed in memory of those who died in the attacks on March 11, 2004, in Madrid, on four trains of the Cercanías network, which resulted in a total of 192 deaths and over two thousand injuries.
Mayor Manuel Bautista read a manifesto for the European Day in memory of victims of terrorism. He then accompanied the relatives of the victims as they placed a laurel wreath and a bouquet of flowers at the monolith, followed by a minute of silence.
The commemorative event was also attended by the Vice Minister of Justice and Victims, María del Carmen Martín García-Matos; Ismael Sirio and Mirina Cortés, deputies of the Madrid Assembly, members of the municipal Corporation, authorities from the security forces, and relatives of the victims.
The ceremony concluded with attendees placing a white carnation next to the monolith in memory of the victims, accompanied by a musical performance on the flute by a musician from the Rodolfo Halffter municipal Conservatory.
In the morning at 12:00 pm, the City Council of Móstoles held a minute of silence in Plaza de España in remembrance of the victims of the March 11 attacks on the 21st anniversary, attended by members of the Municipal Police, Civil Guard, and the entire municipal Corporation.
