During the late afternoon of this Tuesday, a gust of wind has swept through much of the southern part of the capital and the region. The strong wind gusts, of over 70 kilometers per hour according to data from the Cuatro Vientos meteorological station, have caused varying degrees of damage over a wide area.
The storm has left several injured, mostly minor, but one of them had to be taken to the hospital for a possible rib fracture after a tree fell on them.
This information was conveyed to journalists by Madrid Emergency Services, who stated that the injuries were due to minor bruises and abrasions from falling branches, which were treated by Samur Civil Protection.
A weather observer shared data on social media with gusts reaching over 100 kilometers per hour.
Attention pedestrians in #Alcorcón, do not walk close to facades, there may be roof tile detachments and other objects falling. I am receiving photos of damaged roofs, not to mention the canopy structures that have flown away. https://t.co/ln0SKxxHzN
